SEO, Search Engine Optimization, what is it and why is it so important? A question that is not uncommon when speaking with business owners about driving more traffic to their websites and internet stores. A lot of people tell me that they already have a website and they are satisfied with that and don’t really need anything else from the internet. I always have a question or two that is prompted by that statement…

1. Why did you have a website built for your company?
2. How much business does your website bring you?
3. Would you like to make that an investment that works for you?

A lot of times we expect that just because we have a website people are going to be able to find us on the internet. Our website is on our business cards, our trucks or cars, our emails, and advertisements. But my question is what about those people who haven’t seen your car or truck, who have not been given a business card, and who don’t receive your adds, but are looking for your service? They are going to look in a couple of places. The phone book, and the internet (statistically proven the majority of internet searches are done through Google so we will focus there) and I am willing to bet that the most preferred tool of those two is the internet. Why would you flip through the pages of the phone book when Google will automatically flip the pages for you?

The internet is a big place…www. = world wide web and there are billions of websites out there. Its separating yourself from the masses and making your site more important to Google and the other search engines that makes SEO so important.

If you want someone to be able to find your company by typing keywords into a Google search then your going to need those keywords associated with your website.

SEO is all about making it easier for consumers to find your company when there are thousands of others just like you.
