What's the key to blogging? Part 4

4. Add fresh content daily.

The ability to easily add new content is one of the aspects of blogging that makes it so unique and impressive. A website for the most part when changing content or pictures requires someone with an understanding of code languages that most do not have. However, with a blog all you need to know is how to type a word document. The best thing to compare the simplicity of blogging to is the use of email. If you can send an email you can add content to your blog like a pro!

Why is it important to add new content to a blog daily? One reason would be to keep your readers coming back! If people like what you write about, they will subscribe to your blog and read it every time you update it. If weeks and months go by without a new post your readers will find someone that keeps them informed more often. People like blogs because they are a source for the information they want often and they want it fast.

Another benefit to blogging daily is to position your blog higher in the search engines. It is a fact that search engines like Google will place a blog higher on the search results page then an actual website. This happens because search engines crawl websites and blogs looking for new updated information to tell people about. Well if your website doesn’t change and your blog doesn’t change, they have nothing to update their results with. It is also easier for search engines to find information on a blog then it is for them to find info in a website.

Simply put, Google likes blogs better because they have fresh content daily!!

I understand that it is difficult to fit another thing into our daily lives. However, if you want to call yourself a blogger adding content to your blog is important. The key is to come up with a blogging plan. For example, I like to sit down and write several post (a weeks worth) at a time and then all that I need to do each day is publish one. Blogging this way allows me to focus my daily blogging on addressing readers comments and researching new topics.

If you can sit down each day and write a new post I recommend doing it. If you can only blog once a week then be sure to never skip a week!

1. Keep it SIMPLE
2. Write to a specific audience
3. Write about what people want to read
4. Add fresh content daily
5. Address your audience’s comments

What's the key to blogging? Part 5

5. Addressing your audience’s comments.

Another very important part of blogging is the reader friendly atmosphere it provides. Most everyone has an opinion on most everything.  When someone reads your blog post they may have a sudden stroke of ideas that would apply nicely and they may want to share it with the world, so they leave a comment.

I have had some frequently asked questions when it comes to comments that I will address later, but just understand that this is one thing that makes blogging unique, users being able to leave comments is one of the important aspects about blogging that separates it from being labeled as ‘just another website.’

Why do you need to address your readers comments?  Good question…There is a wide range of opinions out there and with those opinions there is usually a wide range of comments.  People may love what you wrote and just want to say thanks for the info, or hey that was great!  They may have something to add, or a question they would like answered in regards to something you blogged about.  Then there are those who don’t agree with what you said and want to oppose your every word.  A customer with an unpleasant experience might want to share that with everyone.

Some comments can hurt your business if not addressed and others might just effect the person leaving the comment.  Either way blogs are about Humanizing Your Business and enhancing relationships with customers.
If you are not addressing their comments you will be missing opportunities to strengthen your customer satisfaction and will defiantly lose that repeat business everyone likes.

When someone has a question answer it, in a new blog post.  When someone is made or unsatisfied address the issues in a new blog post.  When you do this you are not only showing that person you are interested in solving problems or answering questions you are showing everyone that reads your blog or researches your company that you are sincere about the relationships you have with your customers and that you want everyone to be satisfied with your company.

Check back for the F.A.Q regarding comments…
